Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10 June 2026
App: Piano Enhancer
Developer: Jiemo Studio
Contact: jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com
Website: https://pianoenhancer.com
This Privacy Policy explains what information Piano Enhancer handles, what stays on your device, and the limited data Jiemo Studio collects. It applies to the Piano Enhancer mobile app on Google Play, the Apple App Store version when released, and our website.
Summary
Piano Enhancer records and enhances your piano performances entirely on your device. Your recordings, library, composer names, take notes, and custom signature stay on your phone unless you choose to share or export them. Jiemo Studio does not receive, store, or train on your audio. The only data we collect is limited, pseudonymous purchase-verification and app-integrity data used to grant and restore the one-time Pro unlock, privacy-preserving app usage analytics used to improve the product, plus any information you voluntarily send us through our website waitlist or support email. The app has no accounts and no advertising, and never uses an advertising ID or IDFA. Analytics never includes your recordings, audio, library contents, composer names, notes, or signature.
1. Information stored only on your device
The following data is created and stored in the app's private storage on your device. It is not transmitted to Jiemo Studio:
- Audio recordings — the original take, the enhanced version, and small preview/proxy and waveform files.
- Library metadata — piece titles, composer names, take names, notes, presets, trim settings, and tuning settings you enter.
- Your signature — the performer name and optional social handle you enter for shared videos and export filenames.
All audio recording, enhancement, playback, and export preparation happens on your device. The app does not upload audio for processing, and no cloud processing is required for enhancement. Audio only leaves your device if you choose to share or export it to another app or service.
You can delete individual pieces or takes inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes the app's private local data. Android Auto Backup is disabled for this app, and the planned iOS app excludes app-private recordings from iCloud backup, so the app does not copy private recording files to cloud backup.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Purchase verification (in the app)
When you check, buy, restore, or use a trial of Piano Enhancer Pro, the app sends limited purchase-verification data to Jiemo Studio's backend:
- A random, pseudonymous identifier for your app install — not your name, email, or any account.
- The purchase details the app store gives us — such as the product, order or transaction identifiers, purchase token or signed transaction, and whether your purchase is active, acknowledged, restored, refunded, or revoked.
We use this data only to grant, restore, or revoke Pro access and to prevent purchase fraud. Payments are processed by Google Play or, for the iOS version when released, the Apple App Store. We never receive your payment card details, billing address, or store account identity.
The store may also send us automated purchase-state notifications (for example, refund or revocation notices) so that refunded or revoked purchases stop receiving Pro access.
2.2 App integrity checks
When the app contacts our purchase-verification backend, it may include a Firebase App Check token. On Android this uses Play Integrity; on iOS this will use App Attest where available and DeviceCheck as a fallback. These tokens help us confirm that entitlement requests come from the real Piano Enhancer app and are used only for abuse prevention and backend security. We do not use App Check tokens to identify you, track you across apps, or profile your recordings.
2.3 Website waitlist and support (only if you contact us)
If you join the waitlist on our website or email us for support, we receive the email address and any message or context you choose to provide. We use it to respond to you and to send the early-access or product updates you signed up for. Waitlist and support data is kept separate from all app data — we have no way to link it to your app install or recordings. You can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com.
2.4 App usage analytics
To understand which features are used and improve the app, Piano Enhancer uses Google Analytics for Firebase to collect limited app-usage events — for example, that a recording was made, a style was applied, or a video was shared — plus coarse app and device information. Advertising-ID collection is disabled on Android, and the planned iOS app uses Firebase Analytics Core without the AdSupport/IDFA dependency. These events never include your recordings, audio, library contents, composer names, notes, or signature. This analytics data is not used for advertising and is never sold.
2.5 Website analytics
Our website (pianoenhancer.com) uses privacy-preserving, cookieless measurement that we run ourselves. For each page view we store the page path, the referring website (for example, a search engine or a link someone shared), campaign tags in the URL if present, and a timestamp. We may also store coarse interaction events such as playing the before/after audio sample or clicking through to Google Play. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, uses no advertising identifiers, and we do not store your IP address or any information that identifies you. We use it only to understand how many people reach the site, where from, and whether the page helps them decide to try the app. This data is not used for advertising and is never sold.
We also use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand website traffic in more detail. Advertising features and advertising identifiers are disabled — we never use the website for ads or ad personalisation. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies; for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland these are off by default and load only if you accept them in the cookie notice (Google Consent Mode). Outside those regions, analytics cookies are used to measure visits. This data is aggregated, is not used for advertising, and is never sold. You can decline at any time via the cookie notice or your browser settings.
2.6 Crash and diagnostic data
If the app encounters an error, Piano Enhancer uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect limited crash and diagnostic data — a technical stack trace of where the error occurred, plus device model, operating-system version, app version, and basic runtime state (such as available memory). We use this solely to detect, reproduce, and fix bugs. Crash reports never include your recordings, audio, library contents, composer names, notes, or signature, and are not used for advertising or profiling.
3. What we do NOT collect
- We do not receive your audio, library data, composer names, take notes, or signature text.
- We do not tie usage analytics to your identity, and analytics never include your recordings, audio, or library content.
- We do not collect location, contacts, photos, or files beyond the audio you choose to work with on-device.
- We do not show ads, use advertising SDKs, access the Android advertising ID, or access Apple's IDFA.
- We do not require an account or sign-in.
- We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not use your data for AI/model training.
If we ever expand what we collect, we will update this policy and the relevant app-store data disclosures before that change ships.
4. App permissions
The app uses only the permissions it needs to record and play piano on your device:
- Microphone — to record your piano. Audio is saved straight to local files; it is never streamed or uploaded.
- Audio file access — only when you choose to import an existing recording.
- Notifications — to show recording, processing, and export status.
- Background activity / background audio — so recording, playback, and export keep running when the app is not on screen, where the operating system allows it.
- Internet — only to confirm your Pro unlock with the app store; never to upload recordings.
- Billing / In-App Purchase — to buy, trial, or restore the one-time Pro unlock through Google Play or the Apple App Store.
5. Sharing and export (only when you initiate it)
When you tap Share or Export, you choose where the file goes (for example Messages, Drive, or your gallery). Exported videos are saved to your device's media storage. Once you send a file to another app or service, that recipient's own privacy practices apply. We encourage you to review them before sharing.
6. Data retention and deletion
- On-device data (recordings, library, signature): under your control. Delete items in the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
- Purchase-verification and entitlement records: retained while needed to provide and restore your Pro entitlement, prevent repeat trial abuse or purchase fraud, process refunds or revocations, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. For trial users, we may keep a minimal pseudonymous "trial used" record so the same install cannot repeatedly restart the free trial. Detailed server-side funnel event rows are time-limited and cleaned up after they are no longer needed for launch analytics. To request deletion, email jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com with your store order details so we can locate the pseudonymous record. Note that deleting the record may prevent us from restoring your Pro purchase later.
- Waitlist and support data: retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
7. Service providers and disclosures
We rely on a few providers to run the purchase check and the website — mainly Google/Firebase (for our backend, App Check, analytics, and hosting), Google Play, and the Apple App Store for the iOS version when released. They process data under their own security and privacy commitments.
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public, and only to the extent required.
Purchase-verification data is stored in Australia. Because Google, Firebase, Google Play, and Apple operate globally, store-side purchase processing and app-integrity checks may occur in other countries under their own safeguards.
8. Security
Purchase and app-integrity data is sent over a secure connection and stored on Google-managed infrastructure, and we keep what we collect to a minimum — the install identifier is anonymised before it leaves your device, and we never hold payment details. No system is ever completely secure, but the most sensitive thing — your recordings — never leaves your device unless you export it.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal information. Because we hold so little — pseudonymous purchase records and any email you send us — most rights can be exercised simply by emailing jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com. We respond to all requests within the timelines required by applicable law.
9.1 Australia
We handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. You may request access to or correction of personal information we hold about you, and you may complain to us first and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC, www.oaic.gov.au) if you are unsatisfied with our response.
9.2 European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, Jiemo Studio is the controller of the data described in Section 2. Our legal bases are: performance of a contract (verifying and restoring your Pro purchase, responding to your requests), legitimate interests (preventing purchase fraud and securing the service), and consent (waitlist emails, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us).
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal effects. To exercise any right, email jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
International transfers. We are based in Australia and run our purchase-verification backend on Google/Firebase infrastructure, so your personal data may be processed outside the EEA and UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — principally the European Commission's and the UK's Standard Contractual Clauses, as incorporated into Google's and Firebase's data-processing terms — to protect it. You can request a copy of the relevant safeguards by emailing jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com.
9.3 California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect (described in full in Section 2 — categories: identifiers in pseudonymous form, and commercial/purchase information), to request deletion or correction, and to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no need for a "Do Not Sell or Share" opt-out. We collect no sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA. Requests: jiemo.ai.apps@gmail.com.
9.4 Other regions
If your local law grants similar rights (access, correction, deletion, portability), contact us and we will honour them to the extent the law applies.
10. Children's privacy
Piano Enhancer is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age in your region). The app collects no personal information from anyone beyond what is described in Section 2, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information (for example via the website waitlist), contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If our practices change — for example, if a future version adds new data types or features that handle data differently — we will update this policy, post the new version at this URL with a new effective date, and update our app-store data disclosures before the change takes effect.
